On October 10, 2026, Delhi Police rolled out the all‑women Pink Force and body‑camera‑equipped officers at Jantar Mantar to counter the un‑permitted CJP protest. The Pink Force, formed after a wave of assaults on female officers, will guard the 1,000‑person capacity site.
Earlier this month, Delhi Police had detained 400 protestors, including 30‑40 “criminals”, during a CJP gathering. The police cited repeated incidents of male protestors dragging, mistreating, and damaging uniforms of women officers. An on‑duty officer told ANI that “these body cams will prove whether we did anything to anyone or not.”
The police also shut 45 metro stations, from Rajiv Chowk to Kashmere Gate, and cancelled 250 inter‑state and local trains between 4 am and 2 pm. The Delhi Metro Corporation announced that entry and exit would remain blocked until 6 pm on October 10, while the interchange would stay open except at New Delhi.
In addition, internet services were cut within a 4‑km radius of Janpath‑Kartavya crossing for 24 hours, starting last night. The police explained that the restrictions were aimed at balancing the right to protest with safety for citizens and the functioning of key constitutional offices.
The CJP’s “Jantar Mantar 2.0” march began on schedule despite the ban, with the group chanting slogans while police maintained a tight cordon. A 12‑year‑old protester, Samir, who had come with his mother, was among those detained and later released after questioning.
The Delhi Police will review the effectiveness of the Pink Force and body‑camera deployment after the protest and may extend the restrictions if the situation escalates. The next day, the Delhi Metropolitan Council will decide on future traffic and internet measures.
