NCRTC has rolled out a Trip Pass for NCMC users on Namo Bharat trains. The pass lets commuters prepay for a set number of journeys between a fixed source and destination. It is now available to the more than 1.1 lakh passengers who travel daily on the network.
When a Trip Pass is loaded onto an NCMC card, the fare is automatically deducted each time the passenger travels between the chosen stations. A traveler from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram, for instance, can buy a pass for 10 journeys and use it repeatedly in a day. The Standard coach fare is ₹210 and the Premium coach charge ₹250 for the same route.
The NCMC wallet caps at ₹2,000, which could cover four to five trips on that route. Passes come in options ranging from one to 40 rides, giving commuters flexibility based on how often they travel.
By eliminating the need to buy a ticket each time, commuters cut out the queue at ticket counters and the hassle of topping up the card. Regular commuters who usually travel the same two stations now pay once and ride as many times as the pass allows.
The pass is valid only for the source and destination selected at purchase; any deviation uses the global wallet balance. If the wallet lacks enough money for an off‑route segment, a recharge is mandatory before exiting.
The facility is already live across all Namo Bharat stations and NCRTC will monitor uptake before considering broader roll‑out.
