Police in Delhi have identified a minor student at Air Force Bal Bharati School on Lodhi Road as the sender of a fake bomb threat. The email, received on October 23, carried the subject line "Bombs Placed in Your Building," forcing staff to evacuate and prompting a swift police investigation.
The motive was shockingly mundane. According to police, the girl wanted the school shut down for the day so she could skip class. A technical investigation into the digital evidence and linkages traced the email directly to her device, confirming she was the sole perpetrator.
This incident adds to a troubling trend of bomb-threat emails targeting educational institutions across the capital. While the threat proved false, the disruption was real, requiring a full sweep of the premises. Police emphasized that such actions, even if motivated by laziness, constitute a serious offense that puts the safety of hundreds of students and staff at risk.
Legal action has already been initiated against the teenager under the Juvenile Justice Act. Officers are now proceeding with the case in accordance with the law, balancing the severity of the crime with the offender's age. The school has returned to normal operations, but the incident has triggered a review of security protocols in the Lodhi Road area.
