Ajmer Central Jail’s shift supervisor, Divya Chaudhary, was hauled into court in Kota on Wednesday, after police tracked her for almost two months.
According to DSP (North) Shivam Joshi, Chaudhary used a private vehicle to escort two female inmates—Kiran and Sana, both serving life sentences for murder—out of the jail on July 12, bypassing court orders and the official logbook.
The pair were allegedly taken to Chaudhary’s private flat in ARG City, where they were compelled to scrub the premises. A case was filed on August 5, and both Chaudhary and guard Sonia Chaudhary were suspended.
Police said technical evidence, including CCTV and GPS data, pinpointed Chaudhary’s location and led to her arrest at a residential flat in Kota. She is now in judicial custody, while Sonia Chaudhary remains at large.
The incident follows a string of complaints about custodial abuse at Ajmer Central, raising questions about oversight and prompting an expanded internal audit by prison authorities.
The court has scheduled a hearing for September 15, where the case will be presented to the magistrate and the next steps will be decided.
