Rakesh Trehan gave ten iPhone 17s from a private bungalow in Chandigarh’s Sector 10 on Tuesday, bypassing a road gathering banned by Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav.
The distribution took place inside a bungalow, with recipients chosen by randomly scrolling through WhatsApp messages. The first batch included ten beneficiaries, each receiving a brand‑new iPhone 17.
Trehan, who calls himself Raja D King, has previously organized “langar” drives that handed out cash and petrol to residents across the city. His latest initiative follows that pattern but ups the ante with the tech gifts.
He announced an ambitious target of 2,000 iPhones, stating the plan will roll out over the coming weeks. The event has gone viral online, with videos of the handouts circulating on social media.
The Chandigarh administration’s decision to move the giveaway indoors was aimed at preventing crowd‑management risks. Trehan said he will continue distributing devices while respecting the city’s safety guidelines, and the next batch is expected soon.
