Amal Clooney and George Clooney’s Clooney Foundation for Justice partnered with the Women Lawyers Association of Malawi in 2024 to deploy 12 mobile clinics in child‑marriage hotspots. Over 4,000 women and girls received on‑site legal advice and representation, covering gender‑based violence, protective orders, and financial independence, according to the foundation’s impact report.
The partnership also bolstered the association’s broader outreach, reaching almost 7,000 people that year, the report notes.
In addition, the foundation’s fellowship program, now named CFJ Fellowship from August 2026, will train early‑career African women lawyers on more than 500 cases, already supporting 2,000 women and children.
Beyond individual cases, the Waging Justice for Women programme blends legal representation, strategic litigation and public advocacy to challenge child‑marriage laws across the continent.
With 10,000 hours of free legal aid in 2024, the foundation is cementing a network of lawyers, activists and communities to hold governments accountable.
