Hotel Bilas Inn in Guwahati became the scene of a violent shooting on Monday that left five dead.
The victims included four members of the same family and a fifth resident from a nearby village, all of whom were found in the lobby and reception area.
Investigators say the incident stemmed from a long‑standing property dispute over a parcel adjacent to the hotel, though details remain murky.
Within sixty minutes of the blast, police officers secured the premises, confiscated firearms and other weapons, and took five suspects into custody for questioning.
The Congress party, via a video on X, slammed the state government, demanding immediate action and citing rising insecurity in Assam.
A post‑mortem will be conducted at the district hospital tomorrow, and the investigation is set to expand to nearby villages as officers chase leads.
