
Mohammad Mushtaq, 37, a resident of Mardi village in Reasi district, died on Friday after sustaining gunshot injuries while on duty in Jammu and Kashmir. Police confirmed the death after he was shifted from the district hospital to a specialized facility, where he succumbed to his wounds.
Medical Superintendent Karam Veer Singh stated that Mushtaq arrived at the Reasi district hospital in critical condition with gunshot wounds. "We provided whatever first aid we could. His condition was quite critical, so after providing first aid, we referred him to another hospital," Singh told reporters.
The circumstances surrounding the injury remain unclear, prompting immediate scrutiny from law enforcement. Police have registered a case and opened a formal investigation. The CISF has also ordered a separate probe to examine the events leading to the suspected firing incident and the jawan’s subsequent death.
