Sinha's order moved 100 senior officers across the state, including 28 IPS cadres, reshuffling chief posts in eight districts.
Danesh Rana, an IPS officer from the 1996 cadre, now leads the J‑K Police Housing Corporation, while Garib Dass, former director of the Sher‑e‑Kashmir Police Academy, has been posted as Additional Director General Homeguards, Civil Defence and SDRF, and Haseeb Mughal will steer the academy.
Sinha said the reshuffle would streamline command and improve operational readiness amid rising security concerns.
The J&K Police Association welcomed the changes, noting fresh leadership could lift morale for officers on the front lines; a 30‑year‑old policeman from Poonch said the reshuffle would lift spirits.
The new chiefs will assume their posts on Monday, setting the stage for the state’s policing strategy ahead of the 2024 local elections.
