Abhijeet Dipke, the Cockroach Janta Party founder, slammed Delhi Police for its handling of peaceful protesters at Jantar Mantar on Friday and Saturday.
The demonstration, which called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar amid alleged electoral roll irregularities, drew students, activists and opposition leaders to the iconic square.
Delhi Police registered three FIRs after the protests, two at Parliament Street and one at Connaught Place, citing Sections 223(a), 221, 132 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for disobedience, obstruction and assault.
In a separate post, Dipke accused the police of acting as henchmen of Amit Shah, alleging that their crackdown tarnished the institution and the country.
The party has called for a larger mobilisation on October 10, urging young Indians to gather at Jantar Mantar, a move that could trigger additional police action and intensify the debate over civil liberties.
