On Saturday, Navdeep Rinwa directed an audit of all Form 6, 7 and 8 entries entered by computer assistants since April 10, the day the Special Intensive Revision in Uttar Pradesh wrapped up.
The audit will be carried out during a virtual meeting with senior officials, including divisional commissioners and district election officers, and will trigger Section 32 penalties under the Representation of the People Act for any irregularities found.
Rinwa also warned that Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant EROs and computer assistants could face action, while district officers risk accountability for lax supervision. He ordered that ERONET login IDs remain confidential and that computer assistants cannot upload physical‑form applications.
The CEO further instructed that computer assistants digitise applications via the BLO app, preserving originals, and that EROs conduct daily reviews of pending forms to ensure timely disposal.
During the meeting, complaints about duplicate voters that trended on social media were reviewed. DDOs of Bulandshahr, Sitapur, Ghaziabad and Aligarh were reprimanded for delayed reporting and ordered to submit updates immediately.
In a parallel move, Rinwa announced a statewide voter‑registration drive that saw him visit polling stations in Lucknow and other districts, filling Form 6 to add eligible citizens—especially women and youth—to the rolls. The drive aims to make the electoral roll accurate, up‑to‑date and error‑free.
The audit is scheduled to conclude by the end of July, after which any infractions will trigger Section 32 action against the involved officials.
