In a press conference at the BJP headquarters on Thursday, Nitin Nabin slammed Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal for supposedly acting as agents of foreign powers, calling their rhetoric an "urban Naxal mindset" that threatens national stability.
The remarks came as the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) staged a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, demanding the removal of voter‑roll discrepancies in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) that could affect millions of citizens.
Nitin Nabin warned that the 140‑crore electorate would not tolerate anarchy and vowed that the BJP would "deal sternly" with any attempt to destabilise the nation. He added that party workers would "foil their designs on the ground"—a promise that echoes the party's hard‑line stance on dissent.
A protester at Jantar Mantar, 27‑year‑old Shweta Singh, said the rally was a response to alleged voter‑list manipulation, but she also voiced concern that the BJP's rhetoric might inflame tensions. She hoped the government would act swiftly to ensure fair elections.
The BJP's declaration signals a move to tighten control over opposition voices as the 2024 general election looms, with the party preparing to intensify its campaign to safeguard what it calls "India's democratic fabric."
