The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out raids at eight locations across Kolkata on Monday, including Tollygunge and Sarat Bose Road, seizing Rs 75 crore in immovable assets tied to a large chit‑fund scam.
The probe follows a series of investigations that began last month when the ED searched 17 other sites linked to Amrit Project Limited, a company suspected of funneling investment returns into real‑estate ventures.
Earlier September raids recovered substantial cash and property; ED officials seized Rs 1 crore in liquid cash, USD 4,800 in foreign currency, and documents showing benami holdings worth Rs 20 crore.
A court hearing on the seizure will be held in Kolkata High Court next month, where the ED will present evidence and argue for the return of the assets. Local shopkeeper Arjun Kumar noted the raid had halted his business for the day.
