Ocala Police spokesperson Jeff Walczak reported the incident at 8:10 pm on Sunday when an SUV exiting a nearby shopping complex collided with a pickup truck, causing the pickup to tip onto the median where it struck an 18‑year‑old filming a TikTok haircut clip. Walczak said the pickup’s sudden loss of balance sent it violently into the center of the road, making the collision unavoidable.
The three young adults were positioned on the median, recording a haircut video with smartphones. One witness, Yaj Lerom, later told WKMG that the standoff was meant to be a casual “chillin” moment before the crash, but the footage captured the chaos as the vehicle overturned.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes, transporting the teenager to a nearby hospital for treatment. Medical staff confirmed he suffered serious injuries, though no other participants in the collision were harmed. The precise nature of the injuries was not disclosed.
In a statement to Fox35, Walczak warned that filming on active roadways or medians is a life‑threatening risk. He urged the public to avoid such stunts and reiterated that the Ocala Police Department is conducting a full investigation into the crash.
While the teen survived the impact, investigators are still reviewing traffic camera footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the exact cause of the pickup’s loss of control.
