Five Palestinians were killed in two separate Israeli airstrikes in Gaza City on Wednesday, health officials said. The first strike hit a vehicle in the Tel Al-Hawa neighbourhood, killing four and wounding 14; the second struck an apartment, killing a woman.
The attacks come amid Israel's intensified campaign against Hamas after the October ceasefire was breached. Israel says Hamas has been rearming and launching attacks, while Hamas denies involvement and accuses Israel of undermining the Gaza peace deal.
According to Gaza health officials, at least 1,400 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the ceasefire, while Israel reports four of its soldiers killed.
The US‑brokered ceasefire called for eventual reconstruction, but negotiations have stalled over disarmament and troop withdrawal terms.
The Israeli military has not yet issued a statement on the strikes, leaving the ceasefire talks in limbo.
