Mishra took the stage at the 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave, a gathering of policy makers and business leaders, and underscored that India’s economy has stayed on a high‑growth path despite the turbulence that has gripped global markets. He said resilience, not just growth, is the lifeline that keeps the country afloat.
Speaking on macro fundamentals, Mishra noted that India’s fiscal discipline, low inflation, and robust growth have created a stable platform for investment. He highlighted the country’s success in diversifying supply chains, expanding free‑trade agreements, and broadening trade ties beyond traditional partners.
However, he warned that geopolitical tensions, especially the Strait of Hormuz crisis, have turned critical chokepoints into vulnerabilities and that tariffs can now be wielded as weapons. He added that the energy transition is being repriced and that restrictions increasingly serve strategic ends.
Looking ahead, Mishra said the government will push for policies that boost manufacturing in electronics, pharma and semiconductors while keeping the economy open yet less exposed to shocks. He said a detailed plan will be tabled at the next policy forum in early next month.
