The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Thursday that Monday, September 28, will bring heavy rainfall to Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya and other parts of the country.
The forecast indicates isolated heavy showers in Uttarakhand and both East and West Uttar Pradesh, while central India—West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh—will see scattered rain.
Thunderstorms and lightning accompany the deluge; gusts could reach 70 km/h in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and 50–60 km/h over Assam and Meghalaya.
In response, state governments have been asked to mobilize disaster‑management teams, clear drainage channels, and issue public advisories to prevent flooding and transport disruptions.
