At least four people died when a house in Almapur village, Siwan district, exploded on Friday. The blast, likely triggered by stored firecrackers, left the structure in ruins and left three family members unaccounted for.
Siwan SP Bharat Soni confirmed that seven individuals were inside at the time of the initial detonation. “Intermittent blasts are continuing at the site,” Soni told reporters, adding that medical teams could not yet verify the fate of the remaining three. A forensic unit has arrived to collect samples before issuing a final casualty count.
In immediate disciplinary action, Soni suspended the Jamo Bazar station in-charge and local chowkidar Chandrika Manjhi. An FIR has been registered, and a special police team is now probing the incident from all angles to determine if negligence or illegal storage led to the disaster.
The cause of the explosion remains unconfirmed pending the forensic report. Local officials are bracing for a higher death toll as rescue operations continue amidst the hazardous debris.
