On Friday, Madhur Verma posted on X that Delhi Police would prepare for the Oct 10 protest, urging officers to use minimal force. The protest is organized by Cockroach Janta Party, demanding CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has assigned 23,000 CAPF personnel, pushing Delhi’s central police strength past 25,000. The deployment covers 57 metro stations, eight border checkpoints, and includes face‑recognition cameras to monitor crowd movement.
Delhi Police rejected the CJP’s application received on Oct 7, citing the 10‑day notice rule. A senior officer said the protest would violate earlier rule breaches, thus no approval was granted.
The government ordered liquor shops to stay closed on Oct 9‑10 and planned temporary metro gate closures to curb crowd flow. Police will monitor through CCTV, set up barricades, and a vote on protest permitting is expected next week.
