In a 4‑minute video posted on Facebook on 4 October 2026, Ram Bilas Katara, a 70‑year‑old Agra resident, pleaded for help after his son and daughter‑in‑law allegedly sold a family house for Rs 46 lakh, leaving him and his wife, Usha, homeless.
The couple had spent almost Rs 75 lakh constructing the property on a parcel that has been registered in the daughter‑in‑law’s name since January 2022. Katara claims that the sale followed an informal agreement, after he and his wife were evicted on 4 January 2022.
Agra Police said their inquiry, conducted by Malpura station, found the dispute to be a civil matter pending before a civil court. The police noted that statements from both parties were contradictory, and the property remains registered in the daughter‑in‑law’s name.
The family has reportedly filed more than 1,000 online videos and petitioned the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s office, demanding a judicial ruling and compensation.
Currently, Katara and his wife live in a rented apartment with their younger son, while the court continues to examine the partition claim. Police have pledged to maintain vigilance and to take further action as required.
