After a Sunday evening meal at the White House, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Monday to launch a 1,323‑word tirade that called comedian Bill Maher a 'complete and total loser'.
The post, CNN flagged as Trump’s longest ever, blasted Maher for mocking the president’s approval ratings and for jokes aired during the Friday episode of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher.
Trump’s message also attacked the show’s partner Chuck LaBella, who had previously worked on The Apprentice, and accused Maher of lying and of using a ‘laughter machine’ to fool viewers.
The tone sharply diverged from the president’s earlier description of the dinner as a 'great dinner' and his claim that he liked Maher more than people realized, a sentiment he denied after the comedian’s ridicule.
Beyond the vitriol, Trump threatened that Republicans would cease covering Maher and hinted at moving White House reporters out of their long‑time office, a move that could reshape media access at the executive branch.
