Delhi Court issued bailable warrants against YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a 2018 defamation case filed by Vikas Sankrityayan, after a process server reported Rathee’s home in Gurugram was locked.
The complaint centers on Rathee’s video titled "BJP IT Cell Part 2," which Sankrityayan claims defames the Bharatiya Janata Party and its leaders.
Judicial Magistrate Rahul Jain authorized the warrants following the report that the court’s summons could not be served because Rathee’s residence was closed, leaving the case unresolved.
A fresh summons was issued to Rathee’s Gurugram address, and the court has set a hearing for Oct 31 to compel his appearance.
While Rathee has been living in Austria for seven years, he briefly returned to Delhi for protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
In London, Rathee announced a protest on Saturday at Parliament Square, calling supporters to gather at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi to oppose alleged "vote chori".
The court’s decision now forces Rathee to appear in Gurugram by Oct 31, even as his overseas campaign draws international attention to the legal challenges he faces.
