A 12‑meter Delhi Transport Corp bus, driven by a woman, slammed into an e‑rickshaw, two bicycles and a scooter on the congested stretch of Anand Parbat Road on Saturday afternoon, killing one passenger and leaving two others with serious injuries.
Eyewitness Rahul Mehra, a local shopkeeper, told IANS the bus was traveling at an excessively high speed, forcing pedestrians to scramble for safety. 'There’s no space to walk; every corner is crowded with shops and rickshaws,' he said. The area is notorious for traffic snarls and often sees accidents.
The driver fled the scene immediately after the impact. Delhi Police spokesperson Arjun Singh said the authorities have launched a search operation and are combing nearby lanes for the vehicle. 'We have recovered the vehicle’s license plate and are tracing its origin,' he added.
In a separate incident, a 50‑tonne truck hit two motorcycles near Crescent Apartment Red Light in Dwarka Sector 18 at about 12:45 a.m., killing one rider and injuring three others. Police arrested the truck driver, 41‑year‑old Hotam Singh from Agra, and seized the truck, both motorcycles and related evidence. A case has been registered at Dwarka North police station under the relevant sections. Delhi Police will continue probing both crashes, aiming to apprehend the bus driver and determine the cause of the truck collision.
