Vladimir Putin told reporters at the Valdai International Discussion Club on Thursday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has 'very good ideas' for a settlement of the Ukraine conflict.
The Russian leader praised Modi for raising the issue at every meeting, noting the Indian prime minister’s keen interest in ending the war. Putin said he would take the ideas seriously.
Earlier this month, Modi and Putin met in Moscow before the BRICS summit, where Putin briefed him on the war’s status and ongoing peace initiatives. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov added that Russia welcomes any Indian efforts to achieve a diplomatic resolution.
During the same forum, Putin highlighted India’s cultural diversity, remarking that 600 million Indians speak Hindi while the rest speak their own languages, praising the nation’s unity as a model.
Moscow has signaled openness to Indian diplomatic proposals and plans to discuss them in upcoming bilateral talks, setting the stage for a potential joint effort to broker a ceasefire.
