Karnataka’s Manvanth Kumar’s 135 at No.9 turned a 187/7 slump into a 333 total, giving the team a 146‑run surge against Saurashtra.
Kumar, who has already taken 22 wickets in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20, proved his all‑round credentials by adding 146 for the ninth wicket with No.10 Abhilash Shetty. The partnership saw the side claw back from a precarious position to a competitive total.
"It was a normal day for me," Kumar said, laughing. He credited coach Vinay Kumar for urging him to play his natural game. The 135 came after a calm start, but the pace of his shots changed the complexion of the innings.
Yere Goud, who picked Kumar in the Karnataka Premier League, praised his ability to "express himself" on the field. Goud’s guidance helped shape Kumar into the all‑rounder he is today, offering support even when wickets fell.
With the victory, Karnataka looks forward to their next Ranji Trophy fixture against Tripura, where the team will aim to build on the momentum and secure a strong position in the league table.
