Ravindra Chavan, BJP Maharashtra State President, met Central Railway Divisional Railway Manager Hiresh Meena at the CST headquarters on Tuesday to demand hourly local trains from Nilaje to Mumbai and direct services from Dombivali and Diva during peak hours.
The meeting followed a session at Dombivali Gymkhana where 48 passenger organisations presented grievances about the Mumbai suburban network.
Chavan urged Central Railway to enhance passenger safety, crowd control and reduce delays, noting that local trains currently run irregularly and overcrowding is a major issue.
He instructed Central Railway to act immediately on the demands, citing the need for reliable peak‑hour services to ease daily commutes for millions in the Thane‑Mumbai corridor.
Satish Singh of Casa Rio and Casa Rio Gold Co‑operative Housing Societies Federations also attended, stressing housing community concerns.
Central Railway officials are expected to respond to the directives soon, with adjustments anticipated in the coming weeks.
