Police Constable Harman Singh, attached to the Metropolitan Police’s North Area command, faces one count of attempted rape, three counts of sexual assault and a single charge of intentional strangulation over an incident involving a woman in January 2026.
Singh was arrested on 10 January on suspicion of the offences and released on bail pending further investigation. He was suspended from duty immediately following his arrest.
After an internal Met investigation, the case was handed over to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorised the five charges on 4 September. The officer is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 October.
The case follows a similar situation last month when Detective Sergeant Prakash Patel was charged with five counts of sexual assault against four women known to him, stemming from incidents in summer 2024 and on 3 December 2024.
Metropolitan Police officials said the investigation remains ongoing and that officers found guilty of serious misconduct will face disciplinary action.
The court hearing will determine whether Singh is remanded or granted bail again, with a trial expected later in 2026.
