In the early hours of Monday, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) trio slammed Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Supreme Court’s observations on the Form 6 registration amendments. The party’s founder, Abhijeet Dipke, posted a barrage of accusations on X, demanding that the court file charges against the poll body chief for allegedly acting under political orders and for changing the form unilaterally.
Das and Ranka echoed Dipke’s claims, insisting that the Supreme Court had explicitly stated that no changes to Form 6 were approved. They highlighted that the Election Commission’s September 26 press release—issued a day after an Indian Express report—claimed the Court had upheld the new version, a statement the CJP argued was now contradicted by Chief Justice Surya Kant’s remarks.
The trio’s posts also warned that the amended Form 6 was harassing new voters, especially Gen Z applicants who faced repeated rejections. They called the changes an arbitrary declaration that favored political allies and undermined democratic principles.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi joined the chorus, labeling the CEC’s actions an assault on democracy and demanding accountability. He urged the Supreme Court to sanction criminal proceedings against the poll body chief.
The petitions filed by the CJP members seek the CEC’s suspension and the initiation of criminal charges, while the Election Commission has pledged to review the allegations. A formal inquiry is slated to convene on September 30, after which the Commission will decide whether to suspend the chief.
