A drunken man in Delhi’s Maidan Garhi area dialed 108 at 2:50 pm Tuesday, claiming a building had tilted and collapsed.
The Delhi Fire Services, on receiving the call, dispatched three tenders to the site within minutes.
When firefighters arrived, they found no evidence of a collapse and immediately labeled the alarm as malicious.
Delhi Police and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi also converged, but reported no casualties or damage.
Officials have not yet identified the caller, and no charges have been filed.
The incident underscores the need for tighter verification of emergency calls to prevent misuse of vital resources.
