Vimlesh Rathore dragged 40‑year‑old Bablu Rathore 2.5 km before abandoning him dead in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, on September 19. The two had left Bablu's home in Shahabad, drunk, and after a quarrel, Vimlesh tied his hands to a car and dragged him along the main road to a roadside spot.
Bablu died in a Lucknow trauma centre the following day, and post‑mortem revealed blunt force injuries likely caused by the forced drag.
Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena confirmed that Vimlesh was arrested at the scene and brought before a court; the magistrate ordered him to be remanded in jail pending trial.
Family members blocked the road near the Dak Bungalow, demanding compensation for the loss of their breadwinner; police intervened and redirected the body to the village for last rites.
Police have increased patrols in Pihani and surrounding areas, and a judicial review is expected to conclude in the coming weeks as the case moves forward.
