The National Security Guard (NSG) concluded a 14‑day capacity‑building cadre at its training centre in New Delhi, sending 10 commandos and an assistant commander from West Bengal's Special Task Force (STF) to hone skills in bomb disposal, room intervention and medical care.
Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' "Duty to Share" initiative, the programme aims to bridge gaps between central and state forces, ensuring rapid response to counter‑terror threats.
The trainees tackled simulated IEDs, practiced unarmed combat, and learned advanced combat medical care in realistic drills that mimic high‑pressure scenarios. The emphasis on practical exercises over classroom theory was highlighted as key to building confidence under duress.
NSG spokesperson Sanjay Kumar said the training will strengthen interoperability and readiness for coordinated counter‑terror operations, citing the need for seamless coordination when multiple agencies must act together.
NSG officials say the next phase will see joint exercises between the NSG and West Bengal STF in July, marking the first coordinated drill under the new programme.
