The 52-acre Flax Estate in Healdsburg’s Russian River Valley is now officially on the market for $22 million. Owned by ValueAct Capital co-founder Jeffrey Ubben and his wife Laurie, the property was purchased in 2016 for $21 million but now includes a full suite of furnishings and active vineyard operations.
The land carries a heavy Hollywood pedigree. It was carved from Fred MacMurray’s 1,750-acre ranch, which the actor acquired in 1941 to raise Scottish Black Angus cattle. MacMurray, known for roles in Double Indemnity and My Three Sons, left a mark on the landscape that persists a century later.
Compass Healdsburg broker Alain-Martin Pierret, who co-listed the property, describes it as a “pedigree boutique vineyard” with grounds comparable to a private Yosemite. The estate features three distinct structures: a renovated 1940s farmhouse, a 4,000-square-foot contemporary home designed with white geometric lines, and a rebuilt caretaker’s cottage. Ken Fulk, a renowned interior designer, curated the interiors across all three houses.
The 26 acres of Pinot Noir are organically farmed and ready for immediate production. New owners have the option to retain DuMOL, the winery co-owned by the Ubbens, to manage the vines. The property also offers direct access to the Russian River and includes a 75-foot pool, gym, and tennis courts at the main farmhouse.
Jeffrey Ubben noted that the estate served as a refuge during the pandemic, housing family, friends, and 12 dogs. The couple has also used the grounds to host musicians performing at their Healdsburg restaurant, Little Saint. The listing goes live immediately, with showings expected to begin this week.
