Automakers that have been scrambling for control‑intensive electronics now have a new domestic source, thanks to Sedemac’s latest plant in Pune.
The 30‑acre site, dubbed Manufacturing Facility 3, sits just south of Pune and joins the company’s existing plants in Chakan and Wadgaon Budruk, creating a three‑point network across Maharashtra.
The plant will produce a portfolio of powertrain components—ECUs, sensorless integrated starter‑generator packs, and motor control units for internal combustion engines—thereby expanding the range of control‑intensive electronics available to OEMs.
This move is timely, as the Indian government’s EV mandate pushes automakers toward more electrified powertrains, and rising duties on imported electronics are making domestic production more attractive.
Sedemac has outlined a phased rollout, aiming to bring the remaining production lines online over the next year, with quarterly reports expected to detail progress.
