Nikhil Kamath, who founded the discount brokerage Zerodha in 2010, explained to NDTV CEO Rahul Kanwal that certainty about life choices is a problem and that he cannot predict his desires even six months ahead.
Zerodha has surged to become India’s largest retail brokerage, boasting over two million customers and a valuation of $3.2 billion, a testament to Kamath’s entrepreneurial acumen.
Kamath added, “I don’t know what I’ll want six months from now, let alone five years from now. The people I find most appealing are those who are not certain.” He emphasized that emotional attachment to fixed beliefs often stifles growth and adaptability.
Investors and industry observers noted that personal life choices rarely impact Zerodha’s performance, and many praised Kamath’s candidness.
Kanwal remarked that Kamath’s philosophy resonates with a generation that values flexibility over tradition.
Moving forward, Kamath will prioritize personal freedom, mental peace, and the exploration of diverse interests, and will keep his family plans open to future reconsideration.
