Daniel Craig and Nick Jones, joined by Charlie Carroll and Justin O'Shea, finalized the purchase of the 270‑year‑old Horseshoe pub in Clerkenwell, London, in October 2026.
Former owners Richard and Pauline Tucker sold the establishment after 36 years of stewardship, and the pub closed its doors for a year‑long overhaul slated to finish by late 2027.
The renovation will transform the upstairs darts room into a dining space, add a terrace and a sizable beer garden, while the ground floor will keep its traditional pub ambience.
Pauline Tucker, who ran the pub before the sale, told The Times that a former hangman named Gilbert allegedly haunts the cellar, a story that has become part of the establishment’s folklore.
Craig, who grew up around family pubs, quipped that a pint might be left for Gilbert as the new Horseshoe reopens, and he pledged the venue will remain welcoming to ordinary patrons.
A longtime darts player, Arun Patel, said the refurbishment will allow regulars to continue gathering without losing the pub’s charm.
The Horseshoe is expected to reopen in late 2027, with the new owners vowing to preserve its heritage while expanding its services.
