The four accused—Kunal, Sumit from Sonipat, Haryana, and Radha, Babita from Uttar Pradesh—were all aged between 19 and 23, according to the Special Cell. Kunal had been released on bail in a separate case just weeks before the shooting, and investigators say he was in contact with Anil Pandit, the gang’s alleged leader who operates from the United States. The group allegedly supplied a pistol and 20 cartridges to the men who fired at the actor’s car on October 18.
Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gang figure, is believed to have orchestrated the supply chain, according to sources. ‘The four men were part of a module that handled the weapon procurement and transport,’ Delhi Police Special Cell spokesperson Rahul Patel told reporters. Pandit claimed responsibility in an audio message and allegedly directed Kunal to procure the pistol from Amritsar.
Kunal met Radha and Babita at a train station on October 15, and the pistol was concealed in Radha’s bag. The two women traveled to Mumbai on the Haridwar Express, arriving at Dadar station on October 17. They checked into a hotel and handed the bag to the shooters the following day, according to investigators.
A 12‑year‑old boy, unaware of the weapons, was present near the hotel when Radha passed the bag to the shooters. The boy’s parents later told police he had no idea what was happening. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of children in transit areas.
The four suspects were transferred to Mumbai Police on October 20, and the Special Cell said they will be interrogated further to map the gang’s network. The case is now under the jurisdiction of the Mumbai Police, who will decide on further action, including possible charges under the Arms Act and the Indian Penal Code.
