The UP Special Task Force nabbed Shraddha Dubey, her sister Rashmi, and their driver, Danish, in Nagpur on Tuesday. Police traced their winding route—Nepal, Lucknow, Agra, Rae Bareli, Jhansi, and finally Nagpur—before cutting off their next move. The trio was heading to a farmhouse in Nagpur when officers descended. This wasn't just a run from a murder investigation. It was a handover to organized crime. Police sources state that Mumbai's 'Z' gang, also known as the Zulfikar Behlim gang, had promised Dubey shelter and invited her to the property. The gang, which operates an extortion and drug syndicate in Mumbai's western suburbs, allegedly maintained contact with Dubey via FaceTime. Investigators recovered three iPhones from Dubey and are currently analyzing the digital footprint. The Z gang is no minor player. They are accused of demanding ₹25 lakh from a builder in July, leading to 12 arrests and the invocation of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in August. They are also linked to drug supply for rave and Page 3 parties. Dubey, a make-up artist, is accused of killing her boyfriend, Shiva Sharma, who owned a restaurant chain. Sharma fell from her fourth-floor flat in Lucknow on October 9. His family accuses Dubey of murder. She denies it, calling the allegations "baseless" and claiming Sharma died by suicide due to a ₹20 lakh debt. In a video released before her arrest, Dubey argued she had known Sharma for only four months and that things couldn't have deteriorated that fast. "He never visited my home," she claimed, blaming his mother for the accusations. The investigation now hinges on whether a suicide was staged or a murder orchestrated with the help of a Mumbai crime network. The next phase will involve forensic analysis of the recovered phones and potential raids on the Nagpur farmhouse to determine the extent of the gang's involvement.
