Prime Database data shows that mutual funds pumped a record ₹24,000 crore into LIC's Offer For Sale (OFS) in August, eclipsing the ₹18,000 crore consensus from analysts. NEWPAR SBI Mutual Fund, the largest asset manager by assets, led the buying frenzy with a ₹6,142 crore stake in LIC's OFS, followed by ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund’s ₹11,003 crore purchase. Both funds added fresh positions in Dhoot Transmission, Shiprocket, and Rubicon Research, each valued at roughly ₹700 crore. NEWPAR While LIC attracted inflows, largecap Nifty 50 names saw significant outflows; Eternal led the sell‑side with ₹4,400 crore, trailed by ICICI Bank, Infosys, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finserv in the ₹2,000–3,000 crore range. NEWPAR The surge in LIC shares lifted the company's 12‑month outlook to a 10% upside, and the market is now watching how the IPO will perform against the 15% target set by the RBI. Traders expect the next batch of IPOs, including Dhoot Transmission and Shiprocket, to follow a similar pattern.
