IndiGo flight 6E 6542 suffered a tail strike on its Sunday landing at Kempegowda International Airport, after a gusty approach from Guwahati.
All passengers and crew disembarked unharmed, according to the airline, which described the event as an "abnormal runway contact" and blamed the gusty weather for the abnormal contact.
The airline grounded the A321‑Neo for a comprehensive maintenance check and notified the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, which has opened an inquiry amid concerns over a recent tail‑strike incident in Gorakhpur.
The aircraft is expected to resume service once the necessary clearances are secured, while the DGCA monitors for potential regulatory action and plans a follow‑up inspection of the aircraft’s tail section.
