The former home of silent‑screen legend James Cagney, nestled beneath Franklin Canyon, now sits on the market at a new asking price of $29.995 million.
Christie’s reports that the 5‑acre compound, which once boasted Cagney’s private art studio, has undergone a meticulous restoration that preserved original fireplaces, leaded glass and trussed‑beam ceilings while adding modern amenities such as a wine cellar and a spa.
The 10,778‑square‑foot main villa accommodates seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and three half‑bathrooms, and is linked to a guest residence, a carriage house and a separate cottage that once served as Cagney’s studio. The property also features a regulation tennis court, a pickleball court, a half‑basketball court, a pool and a chef’s kitchen.
The price reduction followed the estate’s withdrawal from the market on June 11 after a $38.5 million listing launched on February 6. Beverly Hills Estates noted that the new asking price reflects a strategic adjustment to attract qualified buyers in a competitive luxury market.
Prospective buyers will be invited to view the estate during open houses on July 5–10, with offers to be accepted by July 31. Local realtor Maya Patel said, "The unique blend of historic charm and contemporary luxury makes this property a rare find in Beverly Hills."
