At about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, a group of assailants fired at actor Tiger Shroff near Juhu, Mumbai. The gunmen’s bullets ricocheted off the pavement, leaving Shroff with bruises on his arm, shoulder and chest, while his driver sustained a broken ankle.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke attacked the authorities on X, saying: "Instead of cracking down on students and activists, the police should focus on actual criminals. This is what happens when the Govt and police have their priorities completely misplaced."
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, after visiting Shroff at his residence, declared the incident "deeply concerning" and vowed that anyone who disrupts law and order will not be spared. Shinde also met with Mumbai Police Commissioner to coordinate a crackdown.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis instructed the Police Commissioner to investigate immediately and take strict action. The All India Cine Workers Association also voiced its anger, calling the attack on Shroff not an isolated incident.
Shroff, a 40‑year‑old Bollywood star, has a wife and two children, all of whom were shaken during the crisis. His wife, Priya, said the family was anxious but grateful for the rapid medical response that kept Shroff alive.
