MG has lowered the ex‑showroom price of its flagship Cyberster and M9 by up to ₹10 lakh through a new Battery‑as‑a‑Service scheme.
Under BaaS, the Cyberster starts at ₹72.49 lakh and the M9 at ₹69.99 lakh, both excluding the battery rental that comes at ₹8 per kilometre.
Buyers who go the BaaS route pay a smaller upfront amount but will later chip in the ₹8/km fee, meaning total ownership cost hinges on how many kilometres they cover.
The cars themselves stay the same: the Cyberster still roars with a 77 kWh pack, 510 hp, 725 Nm and a 0‑100 km/h sprint in 3.2 seconds, while the M9 rides on a 90 kWh pack producing 245 hp and 350 Nm, offering a claimed 548 km range.
In a segment where price‑to‑performance ratios matter, these MG models sit above the Tata Nexon EV and below the Tesla Model Y, putting them in the premium sub‑segment that appeals to tech‑savvy buyers willing to pay for higher power and longer range.
MG will roll the BaaS‑enabled Cyberster and M9 across its network of MG Select showrooms in Q3 2024, with initial availability in metros like Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi. Buyers should watch how the ₹8/km fee stacks up against the upfront savings as they plan their daily mileage.
