The BJP kept its three seats, while the JD(S) bagged the Bengaluru Teachers' seat, turning a Congress stronghold into an opposition win.
In Bengaluru Teachers', JD(S) candidate A.P. Ranganath, with BJP backing, edged out Congress MLC Puttanna by 908 votes—10,810 to 9,902—highlighting the alliance’s vote‑transfer power in a Vokkaliga‑heavy electorate.
Congress, despite a campaign led by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and KPCC working president B.K. Hariprasad, lost all three contested seats, leaving it 38 of 75 seats in the Council and still a slim majority.
The result gives the BJP‑JD(S) bloc 30 seats, tightening its challenge to Shivakumar’s government and setting the stage for a broader contest in the upcoming assembly elections.
