Abhijeet Dipke tore the Memorandum of Understanding between Maharashtra’s Tribal Development Department and the Late Lakshman Mankar Trust, which covers 490 tribal hostels, on Wednesday.
A senior official from the Tribal Development Department said the allegations of a handover were "totally baseless". The Department insisted it has not transferred hostel operations to the RSS‑linked trust, though the MoU was signed a year ago to facilitate personality development of students.
Dipke launched the "Adivasi School Thik Karo" campaign to spotlight decades of neglect, claiming tribal schools have been ignored for 80 years. He noted that political parties spend crores on headquarters but leave tribal residential schools in rented, sub‑standard premises.
The campaign will begin on Thursday in Gadchiroli, with CJP representatives inspecting facilities and infrastructure across tribal schools. State officials are expected to respond to the allegations in the coming days.
