The 2027 ODI World Cup ticket ballot has already racked up more than 1.1 million applications, eclipsing the 800,000 that flooded the 2023 ballot in just 48 hours.
The India‑Pakistan group‑stage clash in Johannesburg stands out, attracting over 110,000 tickets in less than a week after the ballot opened on October 1. India’s other marquee fixtures are also doing well—India‑Australia drew 86,000, while India‑South Africa kept 92,000.
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said the numbers reflect the “stature of the event” and that the World Cup has become a spectacle that “transcends cultural and geographic boundaries.” He added that the tournament will expand cricket’s reach across Africa, a continent that hasn’t hosted a major ICC men’s event in two decades.
The ballot remains open until 23:59 CAT on November 21, giving fans around the world a few more weeks to secure a seat at the final, which is already attracting nearly 69,000 applications.
With the Super 7 match against Pakistan on November 7 already in the top‑four demand list, and the group stage kicking off in Cape Town on October 7, the appetite for India’s games is only going to grow.
