United States Soccer, through its Soccer Forward Foundation, teamed up with Bank of America to launch Soccer at Schools, a national push to place soccer in every classroom by 2030.
The first clinic, held at Odyssey Charter in Altadena, saw Beckham and Angel City forward Sydney Leroux hand out goal‑post kits and run drills for 500 eager teens, a clear nod to the sport’s grassroots roots.
The program tackles three pain points: 67% of parks lack enough fields, 82% of community agencies struggle to find volunteer coaches, and one in five school‑age kids battle obesity, with 71% falling below activity guidelines.
JT Batson said the 120 member network across all 50 states gives the initiative a ‘strong bridge’ to schools, while Bank of America’s Michele Barlow noted the project will ‘empower the next generation’ through sport.
After Altadena, the series will jump to Atlanta for the men’s national team sendoff, then head to Charlotte and Chicago, with a dedicated online portal expected to launch by summer 2026.
