The 22‑person tent cluster at Himlung Himal's base camp was engulfed by a sudden slide of snow and ice on Sunday, a day marked by continuous rain and snowfall in the region.
Helicopter footage released Tuesday shows rescuers standing on a white, treacherous slope, their climbing gear strewn beside yellow tents buried beneath fresh snow.
A 14‑member rescue team, flown in from Chame, began the search Monday morning, contacting ten survivors and still combing the slope for the remaining eight.
The victims, identified as Chhebi Bhote, Pasang Bhote, Birendra Gurung and Ghan Shyam Rai, were support staff and guides who had set up the base camp.
The disaster comes amid a spate of heavy monsoon‑related events, with August floods already claiming over 1,450 lives and leaving about 5,000 missing.
Rescue crews are continuing their work under the watchful eye of a helicopter hovering above, and authorities expect further updates as the search proceeds.
