LSR students from Lady Shri Ram College for Women organized a march outside campus on Wednesday evening, carrying posters and slogans to show solidarity with a 17‑year‑old girl alleged to have been gang‑raped in Aastha Kunj Park. The victim, a Faridabad resident, was brought into police custody following a coordinated operation that recovered the accused. As the group gathered, an Assistant Commissioner of Police questioned them about the survivor’s identity and warned that protest at that location was not permitted, insisting they should march where they had clearance. The students insisted their intent was a peaceful march, not a protest, arguing that inadequate CCTV coverage and patrols around the college had left them vulnerable to harassment. College officials have so far not issued a statement, while the police sent a notice to the students’ union demanding that any future demonstrations be pre‑approved. The next day, the Delhi Police Commissioner is scheduled to brief the Union of Students on the legal procedures for campus protests, and the LSR administration is expected to clarify its stance on campus safety.
