Jaipur’s 58‑year‑old father was found hanging in an open space near his house on July 5, after refusing to drop the gang‑rape case of his daughter.
The daughter was abducted on June 12 by four men who allegedly forced her into a vehicle, then gang‑raped her for two hours before she escaped.
Police opened a case on June 14, and the wife filed a complaint alleging that the four accused threatened to kill the father if he withdrew the case.
Circle Inspector Dilip Singh said a police team reached the scene on July 5 after a tip‑off and collected evidence before handing the body to relatives after a post‑mortem.
Witnesses say the family has received threats since the case was lodged, and the wife claims the accused staged the hanging to disguise a murder.
Police have registered the murder case under Jaipur CID, and a preliminary hearing will be held on September 10 to decide on bail for the accused.
