A raid on the Naivedya Lodging and Boarding hotel on Mira Road, Thane, on Oct 8 2026, netted a woman accused of running a prostitution ring that targeted actresses—Sonia Umar Qureshi, 39, was caught accepting money via WhatsApp during the operation. The ring reportedly sent photos of actresses to clients, offering sex for cash, and was run by Ramesh Kumar and Qureshi; two other suspects were also taken into custody.
Inspector Sheetal Munde led a team that included SI Sandeep Shinde, ASI R.K. Asavale, and several constables. Police used a fake client and witnesses to lure Qureshi into the trap, securing evidence and cash during the 6 p.m. raid.
The rescued actor is now under protection at the Rescue Foundation in Kandivali. Law enforcement has registered a case under IPC Section 143 and PITA Sections 4 and 5, and a search for Ramesh Kumar is underway. A follow‑up raid is slated for Nov 15 to locate the missing accomplice.
